Key Responsibilities
A. Electrical Maintenance and Operations
- Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
- Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical equipment including motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, control panels, distribution boards, and electrical protection systems.
- Ensure reliable operation of electrical systems supporting mining, crushing, processing, and other plant operations.
- Identify electrical faults and perform root-cause analysis to minimize equipment downtime.
- Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure timely resolution of electrical breakdowns.
- Maintain proper records of electrical maintenance activities, breakdowns, repairs, and equipment history.
B. Mining and Plant Electrical Systems
- Monitor and maintain electrical systems used in mining and mineral processing operations.
- Support electrical maintenance of crushers, conveyors, pumps, compressors, lighting systems, and other industrial equipment.
- Ensure proper functioning of electrical distribution and power supply systems at the mining site.
- Assist in the installation, testing, commissioning, and modification of electrical equipment and systems.
- Monitor power consumption and identify opportunities for energy efficiency and cost reduction.
C. Troubleshooting and Technical Support
- Diagnose electrical and control system failures using appropriate testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Provide technical support during electrical breakdowns and emergency situations.
- Analyze recurring electrical issues and recommend long-term corrective actions.
- Coordinate with equipment suppliers, contractors, and service providers for technical support when required.
D. Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all electrical work is carried out in accordance with applicable electrical safety standards, company policies, and legal requirements.
- Implement and monitor safe electrical work practices, including isolation, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and permit-to-work procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical installations and identify potential hazards.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment by electrical maintenance personnel.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
E. Project and Improvement Support
- Assist in electrical projects, plant expansion, equipment upgrades, and infrastructure development.
- Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Support contractors during installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and electrical safety.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, material requirements, and maintenance budgets.
F. Team Coordination and Supervision
- Coordinate and supervise electricians, technicians, and contractors during maintenance and project activities.
- Allocate work and monitor the performance of electrical maintenance activities.
- Provide technical guidance and on-the-job support to junior engineers, technicians, and electricians.
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Production, Mining, HSE, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance, industrial plants, manufacturing, mining, hydropower, cement, or similar heavy industries.
- Experience in mining, mineral processing, crushing plants, or heavy industrial operations will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, power distribution, motors, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, and control systems.
- Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial automation will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards and LOTO procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with electrical design or maintenance software is preferred.
